Vaginoplasty Surgery in Miami, FL

Having children is one of the most wonderful and life-changing events a woman can experience. However, most often, other things change as well, like breast firmness, abdominal tone, and vaginal tightness. Increased slack in vaginal tissue and muscle can lead to decreased sexual pleasure, a drop in self-confidence, and trouble using a tampon.

Dr. Rita Shats offers vaginoplasty surgery to help women in the Miami area who share the common experience of stretched vaginal tissues and muscles after childbirth.

Am I a Candidate for Vaginoplasty?

If you feel that your vaginal muscles are loose and want to restore their shape and elasticity, you may be a good candidate for vaginoplasty. The following criteria can give you a better idea of your candidacy.

  • Women with multiple vaginal deliveries and loose vaginal muscle tone
  • Women who have experienced embarrassment, discomfort, and loss of sensitivity during sexual intercourse, leading to dissatisfaction for the woman and her partner
  • Women with realistic expectations about their outcomes
  • Women willing to have a detailed discussion with their surgeon about the risks and complications associated with the procedure
  • Women in good overall health

Women should be finished with family-building. Giving birth after the vaginoplasty may affect the desired results. Patients are required to quit smoking one or two weeks before and after the surgery, as smoking may considerably increase the risk of complications during recovery.

During your consultation, Dr. Shats will conduct an in-depth evaluation to determine your candidacy and describe the kind of results you can expect. Once she has all the information she needs, Dr. Shats will develop a treatment plan that best suits your unique needs.

Vaginoplasty Benefits

Tighten Vaginal Muscles | Increased Sexual Satisfaction

What Is Vaginoplasty?

This vaginal stretching was once just a part of life that women had to live with, but this needn’t be the case with vaginoplasty.

Vaginoplasty, also known as aesthetic vaginal surgery or designer vagina, is a restorative gynecology and cosmetic procedure used for vaginal rejuvenation and tightening. This surgery is designed for women who complain about vaginal laxity resulting from childbirth, due to the stretching of tissues and separation of muscles from the skin. Sometimes the lack of vaginal tone is even extensive enough for women to complain about tampons falling out.

Aesthetic vaginal abnormalities may also contribute to ineffective sexual function and pleasure. Vaginoplasty is good news for women with low self-confidence due to an uncomfortably loose vagina.

How Is Vaginoplasty Performed?

Vaginoplasty involves removing the extra mucosal skin from the back of the vagina and pushing the separated muscles together to tighten the vaginal canal. If excess external skin exists, this can also be removed to provide a more aesthetic and youthful appearance.

Local or general anesthesia is administered, and the patient is carefully monitored. A pie-shaped wedge is used to mark the extra skin inside the vagina. The muscles beneath the skin are sutured tightly to reduce vaginal laxity, and once pulled, the mucosal skin is also sutured. Excess external vaginal skin is also removed for a more aesthetically pleasing result.

What Procedures Can Be Combined With Vaginoplasty?

There are many procedures and treatments that can complement your vaginoplasty. If you have recently given birth to your last child, you might even make your surgery part of a Mommy Makeover. This might involve the following:

Labiaplasty

Breast Lift

Breast Augmentation

Liposuction Surgery

Tummy Tuck Surgery

You can also opt for one or more of our non-surgical treatments, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or dermal fillers.

What Is Recovery From Vaginoplasty Like?

The downtime of vaginoplasty is often two to three weeks. The patient may feel discomfort for a few days after the surgery, and both intercourse and tampon use should be avoided for eight weeks after the surgery.

Patients are always required to schedule a surgical follow-up examination. If you experience any unforeseen complications, please reach out to your plastic surgeon or visit the hospital immediately.

What Results Can I Expect From the Procedure?

Vaginoplasty is designed to tighten vaginal muscles and tissue to provide a more youthful feeling, increased sexual satisfaction for you and your partner, and the ability to use tampons comfortably.
